| Derek Kettela was born in Toronto, Canada. As a high school student, Derek was an avid skateboarder and snowboarder, which led him to photography of action sports. While living in Vancouver from 1997 to 2002 he worked as a senior contributing photographer for Transworld Snowboarding magazine, traveling to Japan, New Zealand, Chile, and Europe in the process. In 2003, Derek relocated to New York City and changed his focus to fashion photography. Since then he has built an impressive body of work in the fashion field. His clients include Bloomingdale's,Olay, Madewell, Uniqlo, Karen Walker, Philip Lim, Ann Taylor, J.Crew and Banana Republic. Derek’s photos have been published editorially in V Magazine,Wonderland, Instyle, American Vogue, Vogue Spain and Korea, Marie Claire, International editions of ELLE, International editions of Glamour, as well as the British and Japanese editions of GQ. He also was a contributor to the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Derek is currently based in New York City. |
